As local organizations respond to growing community needs for services and support during the COVID-19 pandemic, Hawaiian Telcom has donated more than $86,000 to Hawai‘i’s United Way chapters.
The amount represents a corporate contribution combined with funds raised by employees through Hawaiian Telcom’s annual employee pledge drive.
Aligned with Hawaiian Telcom’s commitment to the state, United Way organizations on the neighbor islands – Kaua‘i United Way, Maui United Way and Hawai‘i Island United Way – will each receive at least $5,000.
“Supporting our communities has always been part of Hawaiian Telcom’s culture because Hawai‘i is our home, it’s not just a place where we do business,” said Su Shin, President and General Manager. “We’re proud of our long history of serving and supporting Hawai‘i in good times and especially in challenging times like right now when so many of our local residents are struggling.”
“This support comes at a critical time for Aloha United Way and our allies across the state: Kaua‘i United Way, Maui United Way, and Hawai‘i Island United Way,” said John Fink, President and CEO of Aloha United Way on O‘ahu. “No matter where you live in Hawai‘i, community needs are at an all-time high due to the social and economic upheaval of the past year, and the ongoing health crisis caused by the pandemic. Hawaiian Telcom’s generosity will allow us to continue providing for the community with services like the 2-1-1 helpline and our Safety Net program.”
