HONOLULU, HI — Aloha United Way (AUW) is proud to announce the appointment of Michelle Bartell as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective Jan. 1st, 2025.
Bartell, currently Senior Vice President and Director of Community Advancement at American Savings Bank, brings a proven record of leadership and a deep commitment to community impact to her new position at Aloha United Way.
As CEO, Bartell will focus on advancing AUW’s mission to improve lives through community-driven solutions. Her priorities include reducing financial insecurity among ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) households, strengthening the AUW 211 Helpline, and supporting Safety Net partners and over 200 nonprofit organizations that rely on AUW’s resources.
In her current role, Bartell leads charitable initiatives at American Savings Bank, cultivating strong relationships with nonprofit partners, schools, area legislators, and government agencies. She has been instrumental in expanding access to affordable housing through the bank’s Affordable Housing Hui, managing corporate giving budgets, and engaging teammates across five islands in community-focused efforts.
