WHOLE FOODS MARKET SELECTS ALOHA UNITED WAY AS THE HAWAII BENEFICIARY OF THEIR COMMUNITY GIVING DAY
Whole Foods Market will donate 5% of net sales in Hawaii to Aloha United Way on October 18
HONOLULU, Hawai‘i – Whole Foods Market has announced that October 18, 2018 will be their next 5% Community Giving Day, and will donate 5% of net sales in Hawaii to Aloha United Way (AUW). All four Hawaii Whole Foods Market locations will be participating - Kahala Mall, Kailua and Queen Street on Oahu, and Maui Mall on Maui.
“Whole Foods Market is deeply committed to helping provide access to healthy foods in all communities that we serve,” said Melissa Metz, Community Engagement + Events Marketing at Whole Foods Market. “We are proud to partner with Aloha United Way to help strengthen our local communities in Hawaii.”
Monies raised will go towards Aloha United Way and their community partners to increase economic vitality and food security through an array of programs. These include AUW’s 2-1-1 Information and Referral Line; food provision programs such as food banks, food delivery services, and served meals; educational programs that foster knowledge about healthy food choices, gardening and food cultivation; and programs that strengthen local farm and food entrepreneurs.
“We are grateful for this new partnership with Whole Foods Market,” Cindy Adams, President and CEO of Aloha United Way said. “Food access is an important issue in our community and together with Whole Foods Market we can help more individuals and families in need of food services by providing the support, hope and resources they need.”
Whole Foods Market launched its quarterly Community Giving Day Program in 1993, during which five percent of the day’s net sales are donated to support local nonprofit and community based organizations that align with the brand’s core values.
