Aloha United Way has been around for nearly 100 years. We are committed to the health and well-being of our community. We understand our community’s greatest needs and opportunities, as well as the people and programs that can help. On January 9th we released the first ALICE® Report for Hawaii. It showed that 37% of Hawaii households are ALICE. An additional 11% live below the Federal Poverty Level. 48 percent--almost half of the households in Hawaii--live paycheck to paycheck and struggle every month.
Last year we engaged in community dialogue with ALICE, community partners, local and state government and businesses to better understand the challenges of living, working and raising families in Hawaii. Many ALICE shared the difficulties they face and the aspirations they have for their children. This inspired and continues to inspire us to think about how we can help ALICE find pathways to a better life.
Together as businesses, labor, nonprofits, and government, we can provide hope for ALICE. You can provide hope for ALICE.
