Hawaii Cares, SYL and Women United School Supply Drive

Jun. 15, 2018

School supplies can be an added expense for those who are already struggling to afford basic food and housing. Each year, thanks to the generosity of individuals, organizations and partners, ALICE individuals and families and homeless youth receive the necessary tools to excel in their current and future educational careers through our annual school supply drive.

Now through July 17, 2018, we're accepting school supply donations at all Pearl Hawaii FCU and 22 Jamba Juice Hawaii locations, as well as at our AUW offices. This year, we're especially excited to be accepting donations online! For $30 you can purchase either an Elementary School Kit or an Intermediate/High School kit for a child in need at our Eventbrite page donatekits4kids.eventbrite.comWe're also accepting custom donations.

According to the 2017 Deloitte Back-to-School Survey, the average consumer spends $104 on school supplies and $284 on clothes during back-to-school shopping season. For families who struggle living paycheck to paycheck, preparing children to go back to school can be extremely difficult.

Whether a pencil or pen or a folder or two, every bit counts. A simple act of kindness can be the difference between a child feeling lost in the school system or feeling confident and prepared to learn.
