Born Learning

What if every child had five years of education before kindergarten?

bornlearning.jpgThe reality is that children are learning constantly, right from birth. What they learn during those first five years depends on the experiences they have each and every day.  This is our greatest challenge -- and our greatest opportunity.

Experts know that investing in a child’s success early in life is critical to later success in school and life.  Yet, many of our island’s children come to school unprepared, creating a gap between them and those who have had early childhood preparation.  The Born Learning Program seeks to eliminate this gap.

While families and others who care for young children understand that the early years are important, research shows many don’t know exactly what actions to take to encourage early learning, or feel they lack the time to do what it takes to prepare their children for school.   Born Learning is a response to this problem by providing specific “doable” action steps for parents and caregivers to provide early learning opportunities.  It assures parents that it’s easy and fun to turn everyday moments into early learning moments and shows them how to do that.
