Labor Community Services Program
The AFL-CIO Community Services Network is made of 190 state and local liaisons who serve as links between their state federations, central labor councils and United Ways across the United States.
In Hawaii, there are four full-time AFL-CIO Community Services liaisons who staff the Labor Community Services Program. Together, they coordinate and provide valuable services to union members and their communities by:
-
Assisting local unions in establishing community services committees and programs.
-
Providing important information and referral services to union members, their families, laid-off employees and members on strike.
-
Conducting educational training programs.
-
Coordinating labor’s participation in the annual United Way campaigns.
-
Implementing food drives and various community projects.
