A: As an organization in the business of community impact we incur costs for fundraising, marketing and common business operations such as accounting, human resources and overall organizational management.
As careful stewards of our investors' contributions to the community, we aim to operate with the utmost efficiency and effectiveness. 15% is spent on administrative costs and 85% is invested in programs and initiatives and allocations to agencies that improve lives and deliver results that matter to the community.

A: 37 percent of about $2.2 million dollars raised in the Federal Campaign supports agencies in Hawaii; however, Federal employees are allowed to designate to agencies outside of Hawaii, and so the remaining dollars go elsewhere.

A: We believe we add value in a number of ways
- Workplace Campaign and Payroll Deduction Systems: This allows the community-at-large to participate in community improvement;
- Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval: This is a review of recipient agencies that allows a donor to give to an agency with full confidence that the donation will be well used;
- System of matching donations, volunteers and gifts-in-kind with agencies: This provides an effective way of assuring that resources go where they are most needed;
- 211 information and referral system: This enables those in need to find appropriate agencies' help despite the overwhelming number of health and human service agencies;
- Leadership: Aloha United Way's name knowledge of the human service system and individual agencies, covening power and other resources that allow us to bring the community together to address pressing community issues in a collaborative way.
